Situated in a natural clearing on the highest point of the land, the house is positioned as a self-contained element within the landscape, taking advantage of views of the village, the canal, and Faial Island, without imposing a dominant presence. The proposal adopts a contemporary language, inspired by the island's vernacular architecture, expressed through a simple, single-story volume and the use of traditional materials, such as basalt and wooden planking, reinterpreted with a modern design. The large glazed openings ensure a strong connection with the exterior and allow abundant natural light to enter, enhancing the interior spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interior layout develops from a central open-plan space that connects the social areas and establishes the transition to the private areas, promoting a fluid, functional, and balanced experience while ensuring both comfort and privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interior-exterior relationship is reinforced by the porch and the leisure area facing northwest, where the architecture opens up to the landscape and natural light.
